The Woodhouse Players present the thriller 'Rope' by Patrick Hamilton - Sep 12, 13, 17, 19, 20

Two students kill a classmate and proceed to throw an elegant party for their friends, their mentor and their victim's family - laying out the refreshments for their guests on top of the very chest in which the body is hidden. Tension builds as the killers strive to get away with the 'perfect murder'.

Alfred Hitchcock made Rope into a classic film in 1948, changing the setting from London, England to New York City, United States - and the story has a lasting impact. The play provides a twist on the classic 'whodunnit'; instead presenting a suspenseful thriller which explores deeper issues of morality and justice.

Performances are at the Welsh Church Hall, 879 High Road E11 1HR:
- Friday 12 September at 8 pm
- Saturday 13 September at 2.30 pm and 8 pm
- Wednesday 17 September at 8 pm

Brahms Requiem

Hello my dears.

After having been on the waiting list for 1 1/2 years, I was very happy to be accepted into the alto section of the Hackney Singers in April of this year. Since then we've been rehearsing the Brahms Requiem which we will be performing on 25 October at 7.30pm at St John at Hackney, Lower Clapton Road, London E5 0PD, with the inspired Dan Ludford-Thomas at the helm of the choir and the Forest Philharmonic Orchestra.

Tickets are now available here:

I hope I'll see you there! :)

All the best

Hello everyone,

I hope this email finds you well.

Just a quick update on how things are progressing with The Mobile Museum and the kickstarter campaign.

I'm delighted to be over 35% funded, having raised £2,565.00.

A huge T H A N K Y O U to everyone that's donated, 88 people and counting!

The campaign can be found here:
https://www.kickstarter.com/projects/1114774854/the-mobile-museum

There is 37 days left to reach the minimum all or nothing target of £7,000.00

I will be driving The Mobile Museum to London (Valence House Museum, Dagenham) next week should all go according to plan, where I'll be finalising the build and painting ready for launch in October time.

The programmed is being fine tuned, lots of exciting things planned: archaeological digs, walks, model making sessions and so on.

Please do continue to donate, watch and share, it's been three long years to get to this stage.
We've all been affected in some way by the public sector cuts and wider economic climate in recent years. My hope is that despite these challenges good work can still be created and disseminated in places that would really benefit like Barking & Dagenham, without compromising on the quality or ambition of the work.

In other brilliant news, The Mobile Museum appeared in The Evening Standard on Monday 18th August:

I've posted an update on the Kickstarter on The Mobile Museum's beginnings, with some images:

"A wet, cold January evening in 2009.

Three years in to my long, working love affair with Barking and Dagenham.
My filmwork "Rooms With a View" screened outside, in the footprint of the demolished estate, The Lintons to an audience of 400 people.
A portacabin was turned into a museum for the estate and every audience member was given a fragment of tile that I'd dug up from the rubble, colour coded for each floor of the building.
This was the beginning of The Mobile Museum."
That's all for now, 38 days left and then I can email about the real fun: what actually happens on The Mobile Museum tour and how you can be involved.

Very best wishes,

Verity

Keep Britain Tidy is 60 years old in 2014. And what better way to celebrate our Jubilee than to hold a Big Jubilee Tidy Up this October?
Head over to the Big Tidy Up website, sign up and order your very own Big Tidy Up Kit, and join the thousands of people up and down the country in our biggest-ever litter pick!

Supported by Waitrose, we’ve also invited some very special friends to help us… The Wombles!
Emerging once more from their burrows on Wimbledon Common, Uncle Bulgaria, Orinoco, Wellington and co have reunited with Keep Britain Tidy to help us make this our biggest tidy-up ever – and we need your help too!
Also joining in the celebration will be some of Waitrose’s stores up and down the country and our aim is to get thousands of people ‘wombling free’, cleaning up their communities and understanding that small actions can be the start of big changes.

Since 2008, The Big Tidy Up has helped to encourage more than half a million people in more than 25,000 groups to collect nearly 120,000 bags of rubbish.

And this year, our burrowing buddies are encouraging us all to think like a Womble, and get involved with a Big Jubilee Tidy Up of your own.
We have launched our new Big Tidy Up website, where you can sign up, order Big Tidy Up kits, download posters to advertise your event and get plenty advice on what you need to do.

What’s more, The Wombles will be wombling on Wimbledon Common once again! They will be back on our screens in 2015, for their very own television series, spreading their message of collecting and recycling rubbish.
