Housing Target Reduced
GLA Housing Targets
LBWF Draft Local Plan
The housing target for the Borough has been reduced after the Planning Officers convinced the GLA 1,794 homes per year for the next 10 years was unachievable. The new target is 1,264 per year. That is about half the number that have recently been built or have planning permission. The target was recently doubled so this is excellent news.
It still begs the question of how the current infrastructure will be able to cope with the enormous increase in the number of people living in the area bearing in mind a further 10,000 homes are planned for Meridian Water just off the North Circular.
The Draft Local Plan is now out for consultation so get involved with the process and see if we can get it reduced further. Now the Government is concentrating on the north of England maybe the money will flow there and reduce the unsustainable pressure on London.
If we are really lucky Capital & Regional may abandon the ridiculous plan for 500 flats in 31 storey tower blocks in Walthamstow Town Centre!!
Interesting that Cap and Reg has not yet completed the refurbishment of their Mall - how many months now since the fire ? Would be interesting to find out why.
