Awhile ago the Boundary Commission started work on equalising the number of people in each Ward. Errors were made so Waltham Forest's final changes were delayed as 22 submissions were erroneously not considered. On the 1st December 2020 they published their final recommendations which will go to Parliament for ratification. Once they are agreed they will come into force for the 2022 Local Elections.
WF retain 60 councillors, but in 22 Wards, 2 more than before. 16 of the Wards retain 3 councillors and 6 are reduced to 2. There were plans for the Village to have it's own Ward, but that was dropped and it remains in Hoe Street Ward. Lloyd Park remains in Chapel End and the William Morris Gallery is in William Morris Ward despite requests to have it all in one Ward. It makes no sense in having the entrance to the park in one Ward and the rest of the park in another, when the police get called they work by Ward boundaries and it leads to confusion.
The major change is Wood Street which is reduced in size and a new Upper Walthamstow ward created which goes across Forest Road down to the North Circular.
