Representatives of various groups
interested in protecting the Lower Lea Valley from development came together to
find ways of working together. The meeting, organised by the Save Leyton Marsh
group, was attended by about 30 people who discussed their group’s particular
interest in the area. It was agreed the groups should work closely together and
to exchange information to ensure there was no “divide and rule” by the
authorities. Everyone was concerned that the authorities were not protecting
the open spaces properly, and this was now more important than ever as the
impact of the legacy of the Olympics starts to kick in. It was an excellent
meeting with great opportunities for networking. The next meeting will be in
the New Year.
