Local Job & Volunteer Ops: Lloyd Park Centre, Carefree Kids & Polish Project
This week I have been informed of three local job opportunities in Walthamstow and one volunteering opportunity which could help develop someone's CV.
Firstly, the Lloyd Park Children's Centre is looking for two full time enthusiastic Outreach and Family Support Practitioners (scale 6) for 36 hours per week, a Senior Early Years Practitioner (Scale 5/6 subject to experience) which is also a full time role and Early Years Keyworker Level 3 Maternity Cover (scale 3) full time for 36 hours to cover maternity leave. Secondly, Carefree Kids, a small but growing North East London charity offering therapeutic play sessions for children and young people are seeking a qualified therapist, with strong operational skills and experience, for a job-share Co-ordinator role. Finally, a project that explores the history of Polish migration to Waltham Forest is seeking volunteers. The role involves collecting stories from local residents with Polish heritage. Full training is provided in Walthamstow by the Oral History Society and this project will run fromTuesday 5th August until September. Volunteers will also be invited along to our their Polish themed events to interview residents and sample some tasty Polish cuisine and culture. For further information visit the website.
Wood Street Hub: E17 App
Local social enterprise Significant Seams has worked with App17, The E List, Transport for London data, and Do-It.com to create a hyperlocal phone app for residents of, and visitors to, the Wood Street area in Walthamstow. This app- is free and available to download from Itunes- contains live bus times, an up to the minute events calendar of what's on in the area, Facebook and Twitter updates as well as current volunteer opportunities across the area.
