Brooks Farm

information from Waltham Forest Council

Would your community organisation like to run Brooks Farm?

Are you a charitable/not for profit organisation operating in Waltham Forest that currently provides educational and recreational service to the residents of Waltham Forest?
Would you be interested in an exciting opportunity that has arisen to incorporate running a City Farm to your portfolio of services, to compliment and/or extend the services that you already provide?
Brooks City Farm based in Skeltons Lane Park, Leyton E10 is currently run by the Council and has been in operation since the 1990’s. It is one of a very small number of City Farms in London that is still run by a Local Authority, the rest are Charities. Research has shown that this limits the grant funding that is available to the farm and therefore limits its ability to fulfil its potential and deliver the full range of activities that it could for the community.
The farm has the capacity/potential to run a range of activities, such as:
  • Education projects that support the curriculum
  • Volunteering, Training, Work placement and Apprenticeship opportunities
  • Support and Activities for children and adults with Special Education Needs
  • Animal Husbandry
  • Animal Assisted Therapies
  • CafĂ© facilities
  • A range of outdoor recreational activities
Waltham Forest Council are seeking expressions of interest from organisations that would be interested in taking over the farm as a charitable/not for profit organisation.
If you would like to express an interest, or would like more information about this opportunity please contact Jo Mcbride on 020 8496 3244.
You can also find out more about the farm by visiting www.brooks-farm.org. A package of support will be available from the Local Authority to facilitate the transfer.
