Walking Free in Waltham Forest

Dear local walker
I am very sorry to have been so slow to come up with a programme of walks for the autumn.
I am very happy to lead repeats of previous walks, but have doubts as to how many people would actually turn up on the day and at the time decided.  Any of you are welcome to suggest a walk, a day and a time, and if anyone else is willing to commit to joining us, then the walk will take place - provided health and absence of crises allows.
Should circumstances prevent me from making a walk, I will email you if at all possible.

Tuesday 8 October 11am and Sunday 20 October 2.30pm
up the Ching from Chingford Hatch
(the 3rd section of the River Ching that we will have followed, and this one will include a circuit of Connaught Water; the West Essex Ramblers' Group are exploring three streams that feed Connaught Water on Thursday 21 November 10.30am from the Royal Forest Hotel  http://www.westessexramblers.org.uk/page68.html )
start from junction of Hatch Lane and Connington Crescent E4 6LQ (bus routes 212 and 357, Royal Star cafe and convenience shops)
finish at Butlers Retreat, Queen Elizabeth Hunting Lodge and The View, Rangers Road E4 7QH (near Chingford Station and bus terminus, cafes and convenience shops)
some slippy mud and puddles; most of the route should be good walking but sections may be unsuitable for baby buggies and wheelchairs; an upward slope

Tuesday 29 October 11am and Sunday 10 November 2.30pm
the Olympics legacy next door
start from Drapers Field junction of Leyton High Road with Temple Mills Lane
(Wanstead Slip; Temple Mills)
finish to be decided nearer the time;
paved and asphalt surfaces, gentle slopes

Tuesday 19 November 11am and Sunday 1 December 2.30pm
the Green Lanes in Chingford
starting and finishing in front of the Library on Chingford Green E4 7EN (cafes and shops nearby)
some rough surfaces and soft muddy surfaces; unsuitable for baby buggies and wheelchairs

Saturday 21 December
into the winter solstice sunset
the first stage at 1pm from Eagle Pond, Snaresbrook Road E11 1SP (by W12 bus stop opposite Rivenhall Gardens)
the second stage at 2.30pm from outside Cottage cafe on Leyton Green E10 6AE
finish at the Princess of Wales pub on the Lea Bridge Road about 4pm
the first stage is partly over rough, wet ground; the second stage is almost all level paved and asphalt surfaces
This year the winter solstice is at the weekend, and at 17:11 the astronomical solstice is near sunset time
Regards
David Boote
