Dear Adrian,

My colleague Francis Mallinson has previously written to you regarding the proposals for new homes at the Ferry Lane Industrial Estate, for which we have recently conducted a period of public consultation. I am writing to introduce myself, I am covering for Francis as he is now on leave, and to provide a brief update on the consultation and the proposals.

The planning application was submitted yesterday and has taken on board the feedback that we received during consultation. Many residents we spoke to were broadly supportive of redeveloping the site and hopeful that it would provide a catalyst for improvements to the wider area. This support included people looking for new homes, backing for the business studio space and welcome for investment in new buildings to replace the old industrial estate. A number of issues were raised with us as well. These included: School places and infrastructure, design, height, impact on the wetlands and interest in affordable housing and family-sized homes. There was also interest in business and retail space from local companies.

We have responded to everyone who gave us written feedback at our public exhibition and will be going back to some with more detailed comments in due course.

I hope that this update is helpful. Please do get in touch if you have any queries.
With best wishes

 Mark
