Kranji War Memorial

It is not till you visit the Far East do you realise the Second World War was even more fierce and horrendous than that in Europe. Singapore was taken over by the Japanese by working their way down through the jungles of Malay. When you see the jungle and experience the heat and wet you realise what an amazing achievement it was. The Americans played a huge part in the war while the British were trying to protect their territories in the Far East at the same time as fighting Hitler in Europe. The consequence of course was huge numbers of deaths which are marked in vast cemeteries.

Here in Singapore Kranji is but just one example of the soldiers that met their death thousands of miles away from home.
